Sohini & Mahival - a success!

Sohini & Mahival, the worlds first Urdu Ortorio, was showcased for the first time this year - with music composed by Baluji Shrivastav and Oscar Winner Dario Marianelli.

The piece went down a storm to a packed house at the Southbank Centre as part of Alchemy 2015. The sold out performance of our ground-breaking Urdu Opera ‘Sohini & Mahival’ went very well, with some wonderful quotes received:

Distinguished international opera star Patricia Rozario said “It was a very strong production & I loved the idea of having two aspects of the lovers-a brilliant idea! The music was very good, very powerful. I think there is tremendous mileage you can get out of this piece. The language brings a new dimension to the singing of it. We need to see this develop in it’s original language.”

Hilal Fareed –Urdu poet and founder of the Sir Syed Foundation whose aim is to foster Indo-British friendship, promote Indo-Islamic Art and Literature – said “  You simplified the poetry and conveyed the story beautifully –I am very impressed”.
